A name worth knowing

Who looks after the people who keep the railway moving? Railway Mission has been doing it since 1881.

The charity provides confidential, independent support to railway staff through its network of chaplains across England, Scotland and Wales. That can mean helping someone through bereavement, stress or a difficult experience at work. Its support is available regardless of faith or beliefs.

At Freightliner's facility in Crewe on 30 October, that work was recognised with a locomotive named after Railway Mission, carrying Freightliner's new branding.

Freightliner are a new client for us, and our part in the ceremony was outdoor speech reinforcement. Around 100 guests gathered in front of the locomotive for three speakers, representing Freightliner, government and Railway Mission.

With the speeches taking place outside, the brief was straightforward: make sure everyone could hear clearly. We provided the PA and microphone setup for the occasion.

Everything came through clearly, the ceremony went well and everyone was happy. A good first job with a new client, and an introduction to a charity whose work deserves to be better known.
